The artist’s work is centred around the idea of layered female identity, focusing on both personal experiences of womanhood and the wider female experience. The work explores how various aspects of identity – including girlhood, womanhood, body image, culture, media and self-perception – all overlap and coexist at once. A recurring theme throughout the work is the glaring contrast between women’s internal thoughts and voice and the way that they are expected to present themselves externally. Highlighting the tension between these two realities is a key objective of the artist’s practice.
